Directs officers to ensure all civic facilities to mourners

Srinagar, Jun 24 (KNO): Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Monday chaired a meeting of officers here to review arrangements for the ensuing holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram. Addressing the meeting, Div Com stressed on making fool-proof arrangements to facilitate mourners at all places. He urged that all arrangements should be put in place to ensure all religious gatherings and processions are held smoothly and peacefully. He instructed PHE to ensure regular water supply to all areas and deploy water tankers at all Imam Baras. Similarly, KPDCL authorities were directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and least possible curtailment during the holy month. Div Com emphasized on repairing street lights at all required places and ensuring immediate restoration of all defunct street lights in all urban and rural areas. Further, Div Com instructed the concerned to launch special sanitation drives around Imam Baras and procession sites. He instructed that medical teams along with ambulances shall be deployed to ensure proper medical facilities to mourners. PWD authorities were asked to ensure repairing of roads, streets and lanes for smooth passage of processions. He emphasized on pothole-free approach roads to Imam Baras. Apart from distribution of ration to people, he directed Director FCS&CA to carry out aggressive market checking across all markets and ensure all essentials and required items are available in the market. Besides, he instructed the concerned to encourage the shopkeeper near Imam Baras to keep the shop open during even hours. The Div Com also emphasized on making fool-proof security arrangements and proper route plan for smooth vehicular movement. The meeting was attended by IGP Kashmir, all Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir, Officers of Health, PHE, PDD, R&B, SMC, ULB, RDD, Traffic Police besides representatives of various Shia Associations—(KNO)
